The Golden Age of golf architecture is experiencing a renaissance, and Michigan’s Island Resort & Casino is setting the gold standard.
Beginning August 7, golfers can preview the new Cedar Course (Kishki) before its full opening in 2027. Limited tee times are available through online booking, with preview rounds offered at $45 a player through the rest of the 2026 season.
The nine-hole course brings the resort to 45 holes of championship golf, joining the Sweetgrass and Sage Run courses. All three courses reflect the heritage and landscape of the property — the name Kishki means “cedar” in the language of the Potawatomi tribe, one of the four sacred medicines representing protection and purification.
Architect Paul Albanese took advantage of the natural landscape of the area, creating a course that felt more gentle and contoured than the eighteen-hole layouts, while encouraging players to be thoughtful and strategic. Signature holes inspired by the Golden Age include the par-5 sixth with a boomerang green reminiscent of Alister Mackenzie, and the opening “Bottle” hole, taking inspiration from National Golf Links.

Fall stays to go uninterrupted at Mid Pines Inn & Golf Club
As a full renovation on the Mid Pines Inn — a Ross Resort in Southern Pines, North Carolina — continues, golf groups can enjoy the beauty of the sandhill region during the autumn season with the Mid Pines Villas Fall Golf Package.
Available until November 18, the package includes a stay in the Mid Pines Villas and a round of golf at one of the area’s three legendary courses: Pine Needles, Mid Pines, or Southern Pines.
Located between the Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club and the Mid Pines Golf Shop, the private villas offer spacious accommodations for groups of four or more.
Packages require a four-player minimum and at least a two-night stay and start at $300 per person for single occupancy offerings and $239 per person for double occupancy offerings.
A stay at the villas also affords golfers access to several lounges, restaurants, golf practice facilities the resort offers, in addition to a grass tennis court, heated pool, game room and fitness center.

Mark your calendars for May Day at Rodeo Dunes
Coore & Crenshaw’s new Rodeo Dunes design has its Founder-preview season in full swing, but members of the general public should mark their calendars for May 1, 2027, when the new course will officially open for play.
Tee times dropped earlier this year, but requests will remain active through the 2027 season. Additional availability will be released over time so staying on the list is the surest way in.
The green fee is set to be $350 for the world-class playing experience. Caddies are required, and will be arranged at the time of booking.
Rodeo Dunes is built around dunes up to 90-feet tall and already has plans for expansion, with a second course designed by Jim Craig currently being routed. Golfers can also set their sights on a stay-and-play experience, as a village concept is outlined in the master plan, featuring various lodging options and permanent residences. In addition to requesting a tee time, you can indicate your real estate interest in the property as well.
