Named after the wandering minstrels of Scottish folklore, a lively new venue is set to play its first tune on the Grand Strand.

Legends Golf Resort in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, will officially open The Piper on Oct. 2. Designed by Ken Baker, the short course meanders across an intimate 12-acre footprint within the resort’s practice facility, offering holes ranging from 54 to 120 yards.

Built specifically to foster camaraderie and casual play, the layout flows in three-hole loops, weaving past food and beverage stops accompanied by vibrant lighting and a music-driven social atmosphere. It marks the first phase of a broader strategy aimed at expanding the resort’s golf and entertainment lineup.

Public play and resort guest rounds will be available on a limited basis through the end of 2026, ahead of a complete programming launch for the 2027 season. Tee time availability, booking details and evening schedules will be unveiled in the coming weeks at LegendsGolf.com.

CITYGOLF USA REIMAGINES THE INDOOR GAME

Indoor golf is trading generic screen play for a hyper-realistic hybrid experience. CityGolf USA, America’s pioneer in full 18-hole indoor golf facilities, has joined forces with Fazio Design Technologies to create eight exclusive digital courses. The concept will make its national debut at a massive 174,000-square-foot flagship in Nashville, Tennessee, set to open in winter 2026.

The venue reimagines the standard simulator round into an engaging two-and-a-half-hour event. Golfers play long shots using Golfzon simulator technology before the screen mechanically raises to reveal a physical, custom-built green complex. Complete with undulating synthetic turf, chipping aprons and deep bunkers, the short game looks and feels like an outdoor course.

Operating on a semi-private model with public tee times and founding memberships, the venue features elevated hospitality, a chef-driven restaurant, driving range bays and concierge-style Player Hosts. Details on memberships and bookings can be found at CityGolfUSA.net.

REAL-TIME FAIRWAY TRUTH FROM GOLFN

Tired of showing up to find aerated greens or unkempt fairways? Digital caddie platform GolfN is putting an end to outdated course reports with a new real-time database covering more than 14,000 U.S. golf facilities.

Unlike traditional review aggregators, GolfN uses GPS tracking to verify that users actually played the course within the past 24 hours before they can submit ratings, turf condition reports or photos. This ground-truth system prevents fake entries and gives golfers an authentic preview of local course conditions.

In addition to helping fellow players, golfers earn rewards points for every verified submission. Points can be redeemed in GolfN’s digital Pro Shop for apparel and gear from over 30 top vendors, or used to enter sweepstakes for custom club fittings and international golf trips. The live, crowdsourced database is free to access via the GolfN mobile app or online at GolfN.com/courses, making accurate course intel available to everyone.

PLANT-FORWARD LUXURY IN MAURITIUS

Along the pristine shores of Bel Ombre, Mauritius, luxury golf and eco-conscious dining are converging once again. Heritage Resorts & Golf, a premier Indian Ocean 45-hole destination, will host its fifth Sustainable Gastronomy Week, Oct. 5-10.

This year’s culinary showcase turns its focus entirely to plant-based innovation across the resort’s dining venues. Embracing an 80/20 philosophy — where animal proteins play a subtle supporting role to locally sourced flora — the week features 100% local tasting menus, hands-on foraging tours, interactive workshops and mixology challenges.

Internationally acclaimed chefs Thomas Benady of France and Georgios Spandos of Réunion Island will head the jury panel for the week’s culinary competitions. Designed as a moment of sharing between master chefs, producers and guests, the event elevates eco-minded dining without sacrificing epicurean flair.
